Vihaan Jain Clinches Maiden IGU Category A Title

By Deepak Arora

Vihaan JainVISAKHAPATNAM, May 19: Vihaan Jain clinched his maiden IGU Category ‘A’ (15–17 years) title with an impressive three-shot victory at the IGU Andhra Pradesh Junior Boys Golf Championship held at East Point Golf Club, Visakhapatnam.

The 16-year-old displayed remarkable composure in the final round, carding a two-under 70 to finish the 72-hole championship at four-under 284. Jain entered the final day tied for the lead with Arjun Dahiya, but a strong back-nine performance helped him pull away and secure the title in style.

A crucial turning point came on the 13th hole when Jain converted a 15-foot birdie putt to take control of the tournament. Consecutive mistakes from Dahiya on the following holes further extended Jain’s advantage, allowing him to comfortably close out the championship.

Jain’s rounds of 67, 74, 73 and 70 reflected consistency and maturity under pressure, marking an important milestone in his junior golf journey. Arjun Dahiya finished second at one-under 287, while Ishnidh Virdi claimed third place at 290.

Vihaan Jain has also recorded victories on the international junior circuit in the United States, including AJGA events, further establishing himself as one of India’s promising young golfers on the global stage.

The victory in Visakhapatnam is expected to further strengthen Jain’s standing in Indian junior golf as he continues to build momentum both nationally and internationally.
