Canara Bank’s second E-Lounge opens in Delhi

NEW DELHI, Jan 28: Canara Bank’s second E-Lounge service was launched at Bank’s Parliament Street branch here on Monday. Mr Ashok Kumar Gupta, Executive Director of the Bank, inaugurated the E-Lounge at a function at the branch premises.
In his address, Executive Director Gupta said Canara Bank shall open eight more E-Lounges at various locations in the country by end of the current financial year. Delhi would have another e-lounge also.
The first e-lounge was opened at Bangalore on the Republic Day by the bank’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr R K Dubey.
Mr Gupta said e-lounge is Canara Bank’s latest technology initiative to its customers and the first such delivery point in Delhi which will provide customers facility to update their account, withdraw and deposit cash, deposit cheques, passbook printing etc without any manual intervention even beyond the banking hours.
Customers can also use the Internet facility to do banking operations and stock trading, he said, adding, video conference facility is also available for interaction with the bank officials.
These e-lounges will cater to the needs of customers round-the-clock and all seven days of the week, he added.
In order to increase the delivery channel, Mr Gupta informed that Canara Bank would open 2,000 more ATMs by the end of the next financial year ie March 2014. The Bangalore-based bank has 3,400 ATMs and 3,700 branches spread across the country and six overseas branches.
As a part of its CSR activities, the Bank also donated wheel chairs/ tricycles to 10 poor physically challenged persons on this occasion. These wheel chairs/ tricycles were distributed by Mr Ashok Kumar Gupta.

India to become manufacturing hub of world: Anand Sharma

AGRA, Jan 27: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has said that the National Manufacturing Policy will transform India into manufacturing hub of the world. Speaking on the occasion of Global Partnership Summit 2013 here, Mr Sharma stressed that “forging regional and global partnerships between the developed, developing and emerging economies is the key to a sustainable growth, secure the present and leave a legacy for a better future”.
Mr Sharma, who is also Summit Chairman, however, expressed concern over the slow pace of economic recovery and suggested to adapt the path of high growth.
He said “youth unemployment and unemployability is the biggest worry and within a decade, there would be requirement for creating 600 million jobs globally. Thankfully, National Manufacturing Policy (NMP) would help to create 100 million skilled jobs within a decade, thereby helping to address the issue of unemployment. We are really focused towards development of the Manufacturing sector.”
“Thrust towards manufacturing sector would not only help raise share of manufacturing in India’s GDP, but would also make India one of the manufacturing hub in the 21st century and help in employment creation,” added Mr Sharma.
Inaugurating the 19th CII Partnership Summit organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Uttar Pradesh as the Partner State, Vice President Hamid Ansari said “it is imperative that the world economies work in tandem to prepare a roadmap for economic recovery, wherein they leverage each other’s strengths and comparative advantages to create a new economic world order.”
“Innovation and creativity will play an important role in reviving growth in the emerging economies for better utilization of the limited resources”, added Mr Ansari.
To address the challenges of poverty alleviation and socio-economic development, Mr Ansari emphasized that “the challenge before us now is to put back the Indian economy on high growth trajectory. This is critical to generate additional employment opportunities essential for achievement of broader agenda of sustainable and inclusive growth.”
Elaborating upon the economic prospects of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav assured to create enabling policy regime to attract investment and a facilitating bureaucracy to help industry. He reinforced that a thriving manufacturing sector can provide alternative employment and would help to address the issue of regional imbalance.
In this context, he proposed to invest in product specific industrial infrastructure and setting up national manufacturing investment zones. "We would create an enabling environment for attracting investments," he added.
Referring to the theme of the Summit, Adi Godrej, President CII, and Chairman, Godrej Group, in his opening remarks said that the theme rightly recognizes the aspiration of attaining global growth through seeking global partnerships. He added that, we are at a critical juncture when importance of outward orientation and strategic reforms can not be underestimated.
In anticipation of successful outcome of this Summit, he said that new ideas and meaningful discussions would help to draw upon strategy to realize objective of a more enduring and inclusive development.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Ajay S Shriram, Vice President, CII, and Chairman & Senior Managing Director, DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited, outlined the overall objective of the Partnership Summit and stressed that that this platform present with the unique opportunity to build new bridges of strategic partnerships.
Delivering the closing remarks, S Gopalakrishnan, President Designate, CII, and Executive Co-Chairman, Infosys Limited, suggested to re-examine the role of advanced and emerging countries, in the current scenario when trade, investment and businesses are the main driving forces for growth.
The 19th CII Partnership Summit started today at the Historic city of Agra, which is on till January 29. The Summit would witness participation of 22 International Ministers, around 300 international delegates from USA, Italy, Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Slovenia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, China and Pakistan. It would also have around 20 international speakers addressing from Australia, France, Singapore etc. There would be 63 International Diplomats like Economic Counselors, Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Commercial Counsellors.
Canara Bank launches E-lounge facility
BANGALORE, Jan 26: Canara Bank offered its latest technology initiative, the E-Lounge facility to its customers here today at Koramangala Bangalore.
The E-Lounge facility seeking to provide a multitude of technology driven products under the same roof Viz. Cash withdrawals and deposits, cheque deposits, Passbook printing, Internet Banking and On-line Trading without any manual
intervention, was inaugurated by the Bank's Chairman & Managing Director, Mr R K Dubey.
Addressing a gathering of customers and staff, Mr Dubey remembered the Bank's founder and his founding principles. Laying stress on customer orientation and service, he emphasized that “Service for growth and growth for service” should be the driving force of all the staff in the Bank.
He also informed that similar E-lounge facility would be made available in
many more of the Bank's outfits in due course.

R K Dubey unfurls Flag at Canara Bank Hqrs
BANGALORE, Jan 26: Canara Bank celebrated 64th Republic Day here on Saturday at a glittering function held at its Head Office. Mr R K Dubey, Chairman and Managing Director, unfurled the National Flag.
In his address, Mr Dubey emphasized that the Bank would live upto its founding principles of removing illiteracy, spreading education to all and special care for women and poor.
On this occasion, Bank honoured eminent personalities like Padmashree Chittani Ramachandra Hegde, a Yakshagana Doyen, Dr. Narayan Sawanth, a homeopath healer, Mr Mahantesh Ghativalappa Kivadasannavar, Founder of Samarthanam Trust for Disabled and Padmashree Anitha Reddy, Founder Trustee of AVAS.
